Your role
The Payroll Officer is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining data integrity and generating comprehensive reports. Over the next 12 months SVDP society will implement a new payroll system therefore this role along with the Payroll Manager will play a critical role in this implementation project. This role will also involve process mapping and documentation to streamline payroll operations to enable excellent services and improved efficiency. This role will support line managers with Award and Enterprise Agreement interpretation to ensure compliance and correct application of entitlements.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
- Accurate processing end-to-end payroll, ensuring compliances with Awards, Enterprise Agreements, regulatory requirements, and organisational policies.
- Undertake data integrity maintenance to ensure the accuracy and integrity of payroll data by regularly auditing and updating employee records.
- Comprehensive reporting, including generating detailed payroll reports and analytics to support financial planning and decision-making.
- Provide responsive, accurate and effect service, support and advice to customers to ensure matters are resolved promptly and effectively.
- Perform audits and reconciliation on payroll to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Work closely with HR, recruitment, finance, and other departments to ensure seamless payroll operations and data sharing.
- Educate employees on payroll processes, leave entitlements, superannuation, and other pay-related matters.
- Develop and document processes to enhance efficiency and ensure compliance with best practices.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency. Update current resources and develop additional materials where relevant to provide added support to staff and managers.
- Undertake required project work to enable successful implementation of a new HR & Payroll system.
- Support a culture of safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement throughout the operations, with demonstrated year on year improvements in all areas
- Undertake other duties, which are assigned from time to time by your manager
- Comply with all WHS duties and responsibilities as a worker in accordance with the document WHS Directive: WHS Roles and Responsibilities and the WHS Act 2011

Qualifications and experience
- Thorough knowledge and experience (+3yrs) in all aspects of Payroll processing and use of HR and Payroll systems.
- Demonstrated understanding, ability to interpret, National Employee Standards, Award & Enterprise Agreement interpretation, ATO legislation, and policies and procedures.
- Strong problem-solving ability, together with high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Payroll system implementation experience desired.
- Business process mapping and documentation experience, or involvement in continuous improvement projects desired.
- Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland and an ability to work in accordance with policies and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society.
