Job Description

Your role

The Client Training & Employment Officer is responsible for sourcing and supporting employment, training and educational opportunities for clients from multiple Housing and Homelessness programs operating across Southeast Queensland. They will provide practical support including a range of job search activities, training, education and skill development. The position will develop positive and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, working towards establishing pathways for clients to effectively access education, and/or employment in the community. All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with policies, procedures and philosophy of the Society under the general supervision of the Program Manager.

Key responsibilities

                • Provide clients with practical support to develop employability skills, find employment, apply for further education, and/or undertake training.
                • Develop and deliver information sessions in a group setting on topics pertaining to clients obtaining employment, or undertaking further study.
                • Collaborate with other members of the team to create, prepare, and deliver workshops addressing specific needs identified in specialist areas (e.g. mental health, DFV, AOD, parenting, budgeting etc.) based on strategic goals 
                • Coordinate and lead collaboration with other members of team to ensure support provided to clients is consistent with goals specified in case plans.
                • Engage effectively with clients to promote education, training, and employment opportunities while taking the lead on implementing these strategies.
                •  Develop and implement a structured feedback process to facilitate continuous improvement in client engagement practices and contribute to the establishment of relevant procedures.
                • Complete all administration tasks, including case notes, responding to queries, and reporting, in a timely manner and in accordance with service-specific procedures.
                • Undertake other duties, which are assigned from time to time by your manager.
                • In all duties, comply with the behavioural expectations set out in the Vinnies’s Code of Conduct, and our policies and procedures.
                • Comply with their WHS duties and responsibilities in accordance with the document WHS Directive: WHS Roles and Responsibilities, and the WHS Act 2011

Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications and experience

                • Bachelor’s degree in human, or community, services with minimum one-year relevant experience, or Diploma in human, or community, services with substantial relevant experience.
                • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment highly desirable.
                • Experience designing and delivering workshops to small groups on a range of subject matter.
                • Professional background in providing direct, practical assistance to individuals working to develop living-skills, job-search skills, and/or tenancy skills considered highly desirable.
                • Demonstrated ability to engage internal and external stakeholders, and develop effective relationships with potential employers, training organisations, and community partners.
                • Demonstrated experience in managing competing demands, with limited direction, and liaising with front line staff and managers for effective service delivery.
                • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to create effective professional relationships with a diverse range of individuals.
                • Intermediate skills in Microsoft 365 applications, and data-entry experience with CRM databases.
                • Current “C” Class Driver’s License.
                • Current Blue card.
                • Demonstrate genuine respect for all people regardless of their situation
                • Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland and an ability to work in accordance with policies and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society
