Job Description

The Role

This role is responsible for day-to-day group and personal support, program facilitation, and case work support for clients involved in the Alcohol and other drugs service in Mackay.

Our residential services offer a 12-week structured residential rehabilitation program designed to assist our clients in recovering from the effects of their dependence on alcohol and other drugs. We provide a structured program of learning and activities  that integrates various therapeutic elements and supports to achieve recovery goals in a comfortable and safe 20-bed home environment.

You will provide a variety of focused support throughout each day and to support all aspects of the clients' journey. 

Your experience in AOD support work and case work support work will be crucial to your success in this position. 

We have a full-time position (38 hours per week) and a part-time position (16 hours per week) available in a 24-hour residential facility located in Mackay. The role requires flexibility, as you will be expected to work a variety of shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, and weekends. Desired Skills and Experience

To be successful in the role, you will meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum Certificate III in Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD), Mental Health, Community Services or similar 
  • Knowledge of and experience in person-centered and trauma informed approaches 
  • Previous experience as a Support Worker or equivalent within the program area of operation
  • Skills and experience in supporting people in recovery with their diverse and holistic needs 
  • Experience and skills in case management & implementation of case plans. 
  • Previous experience facilitating groups and learning & life skill activities 
  • Personal aptitude for working within set guidelines and adhering to all relevant policies and procedures including safety and risk. 
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and organisation skills including the ability to exercise judgement and contribute to a team environment
  • Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland and an ability to work in accordance with policies and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society
  • Valid Driver’s Licence is required
